Natalie's Story

Hi, I'm Natalie.  Thanks for taking an interest in our blog and in me.  If you don't know me, I'm a mother of a beautiful daughter, Morgan, who is one of my greatest joys in life.  I'm also a dialysis patient.  At the age of 17 I was diagnosed with kidney failure and on my 21st birthday I had my first dialysis treatment.  Long story short, I did receive two transplants (one of which was one of my brother's, Tony) but lost both of them.  I have now been on dialysis for the past 14 years and am waiting for another transplant.

About 10 years ago, I really started looking into making better food choices and have been on quite a roller coaster journey ride with that.  About 5 years ago, the Lord really started dealing with me about my food choices and that is really what has compelled me to greener living.  I'm not perfect and I fall quite often, but I have committed to making changes no matter how big or small and making those changes on a continual basis toward greener living.  I want to live a healthier life not only for myself but for my daughter and for those that I love and in turn help to sustain our planet that is suffering so badly.  I often wonder if my great-great-great grandchildren will be living on a planet portrayed in futuristic movies - one in which it is basically a dessert.  I for one, do not want to be a contributing factor to our planet's demise.

Why do I write for GLiMs...because I have learned that information is power (personal power - not power to condemn or judge others) and I want to share that information with others to help them during their journey of greener living or helping someone even decide if they want to live greener.  I also hope that in sharing my thoughts and experiences, it will help others from making mistakes that I have made and encourage others that they can live a greener life and also to maybe help their journey pace along a little faster than it might have been without the information.

I hope you visit GLiMs often and remember, although our lives may be separate, we are all in this journey together.

In His Love,

Natalie
